Funglode and CESEDE inaugurate Eighth International Conference on Security and Defense
The event was held at the headquarters of Funglode with the participation of national and international experts.
(Santo Domingo) .- The Centre for Security and Defence Studies (CESEDE), the Global Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE) Foundation, inaugurated the Eighth International Conference on Security and Defense.
"The importance of structural safety for the prevention and risks in buildings" was the opening theme and was in charge of Pablo Ochoa, director of Projects and Safety International Congress of Safety, Health, Environment and Emergencies (CISAE) of Panama, and Edita Vizcaíno, president of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA).
Ochoa as CISAE representative said that the construction of buildings must be taken into account safety criteria for the prevention of natural disasters such as an earthquake because this issue is related directly and indirectly to the development of a country.
"We must have safety criteria in classrooms, on people, on means of egress and we must have secure sites, risk analysis, self-sufficiency, available resources and capabilities responses. Self must recognize the vulnerability is in buildings . you have to give maintenance to buildings, "noted Ochoa.
For his part, the president of CODIA considered that Dominican Republic must be prepared for any natural disaster, why has the interest that projects meet established standards worldwide.
Vizcaino said that "any infrastructure project must have provisions for first aid, protective equipment, safety signs, toilets, rest areas, fire protection, evacuation outlet, cleanliness, order and maintenance of workplaces".
The eighth version
The conference in its eighth installment will run until Friday, October 21 with the participation of current national and international experts from Spain, Peru, Panama and Colombia. Structural safety thematic focuses: design, construction and health, due to the great development of construction in the country and the vulnerabilities existing natural; besides occupational health as an essential aspect in ensuring the welfare of workers.

Also integrate occupational health as essential to ensuring the welfare of workers and compliance in the workplace aspect , "said Josefina Reynoso, director of CESEDE.

The event included welcoming remarks by Marco Herrera, executive director of Funglode and was led by Cinthia Lazala communicators and Pablo Manuel Casals.
